Kelsey

Kelsey is a 16 inch preemie weighing in at 3 lbs. 6 ounces. Her legs are slightly curved so she would be equivalent to an 18 inch premature baby. She wears preemie diapers and preemie clothing. This baby has no inner cloth body and may move her arms and legs with gentle care. Do not pull on the arms, legs, or head. While turning head (only slightly) push down on the top of the head. Although the doll will not leak internally, the baby cannot be bathed due to weighting materials inside the body.

This doll has a full vinyl body and is constructed with a drink and wet system. She has dark curly rooted hair and is shaded to a rich African American skin tone. I have included a picture of the construction process showing the placement of the plastic tubing before the doll is finished. The completed doll has both legs attached and the tubing trimmed.

Special notes on drink and wet system:

*The liquid cannot leak inside the system. It travels through the body via plastic tubing that is sealed. Use water or fake formula made from sunscreen lotion mixed with water. This has been tested and does not clog up the system. If you suspect a clog has occurred feed the baby a bottle of vinegar and water.
*A small protrusion of tubing may be visible at the mouth and genital openings. Do not trim this any further because the tubing may seep back into the body and be lost. This will ruin the drink and wet functioning of the system and cause liquid to leak inside the body.
*The bottle and pacifier are especially made to fit inside the tubing. Other methods of feeding the baby will not work. When placed in the mouth correctly the appearance of the protruding spike will not show and the baby appears quite natural.
*Due to gravity, the baby may not wet until raised in an upright position much as you might do to burp a baby. You may need to gently squeeze the bottle to get the flow of liquid started.
*Be careful of spilling liquid around the baby’s face or neck. Use a burp cloth or bib. Water may damage the baby’s paint after time.
